Description
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder common among women of reproductive age. A PCOS profile is a series of tests that helps diagnose PCOS by measuring different hormones and biomarkers in the body. These can provide important information about a woman’s reproductive and overall health, and can help diagnose PCOS by providing evidence of hormonal imbalances. Elevated levels of androgens (male hormones), such as testosterone, can indicate an ovulatory dysfunction, which is a hallmark of PCOS. Low levels of FSH and LH can indicate that the ovaries are not responding normally to signals from the pituitary gland. High levels of prolactin can indicate an imbalance in the hormone that regulates the menstrual cycle and stimulates milk production.
